On Sunday my family held a memorial for my grandfather. Our whole family and all his friends, from all walks of life and from around the whole country, gathered at a beautiful home perched over a seemingly endless canyon. There was so much love occurring, so many old, dear friends, close and distant relatives, reminiscing, celebrating, and remembering my grandpa. He was an intellectual as well as a working class hero, who transcended social constructs as well as the wall between this world and the spiritual one. He was a giant among men, the smartest, kindest, best man I ever knew, who loved so powerfully and unconditionally and whose love was so present this Sunday and will always exist within me and all his friends and family.
